My Grandmother died today

Ruth Lamotte died March 16th, 2007. I have to admit that my relationship with her over the past ten years has not been close; it waned after the passing of my grandfather.

I have to confess that I am a tennis addict. Tennis addiction is when one will stay up when there is a 16-hour time difference to watch a Grand Slam Event. That is what I did recently a fortnight (that’s two weeks Down Under) watching the Australian Open.

As I sit here in my warm, comfortable home, sipping coffee, my belly full of eggs and bacon, reading the Op/Ed page of the Sunday NYT’s, I’m immediately shaken out of my comfort zone. Nicholas Kristof has done it again.
